This shows NS Train 918 on the NS P-Line (former Central of Georgia) main through Alexander City, AL on Feb. 1, 2008. What started out being a very cold, damp, overcast day has now become a bright sunshiny early afternoon.
My dog Sadie found this dirt fascinating after getting a pile dumped in my yard to build a new driveway.
(Note: Sadie was tragically killed on Feb. 27, 2007, only a little over 2 years old. We will miss her.)
NS W34 observes the 10 MPH slow order through Alexander City, AL. I set the camera up on the mini-tripod and sat it on top of one of the NS Call Boxes, then backed off to shoot some stills. Be sure to pay attention to the end of the train, where you can hear the whining of the EOT (FRED).
NS 137 crosses the diamond in Sylacauga, AL. The line it's crossing is the EARY line, built as the Southern most leg of the L&N Alabama Mineral Belt Railroad that ran from Anniston through Talladega, Sylacauga, and into Calera, AL where it joined up with the South & North Alabama Railroad.
This is the NS 371 starting back up after the crew picked up some breakfast at the Piggly Wiggly across the street. The yellow and blue of the Santa Fe (BNSF) motor livened up the dreary morning.
This is my third installment of my railroad videos compiled into one video. YES, I know there are no KCS trains in this video! It's a long way to ANY KCS tracks now that they've pulled out of Tuscaloosa, AL. I take what I can get.
This MTY rock train was seen on the West End of Alexander City, AL heading back to Georgia to pick up another load of ballast for a run through back to the KCS systems lines.
Here's what I shot today after church on the NS P-Line here in Alexander City. This was shot with a VHS-C camcorder on a very crappy tripod, as you can plainly tell. Looks like I'll have to get a better one.
Three high hoods that have been roaming the NS P-Line for several weeks now are seen on NS Train A48 heading East to Columbus, GA through Alex City, AL.
